Campus Security Technician

Franklin University invites applications for a full-time Campus Security Technician.  The Campus Security Technician promotes lawful behavior assist with the protection of life, property, and the prevention of crime. This individual will render aid and service to faculty, staff, students and visitors as a uniformed presence on campus. Duties include foot and vehicle patrols of the university parking lots and campus to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, investigate disturbances, maintain order during events, prevent crime and enforce regulations. The successful candidate will monitor the physical safety of campus by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling, utilizing security technologies such as, surveillance systems, access control, and reporting suspicious behavior.  Hours will vary but will include weekends and/or evening hours.  Additionally, the selected candidate must be available to respond 24/7 and overtime hours may be needed to assist with special events, make-up days, or department coverage.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to stay calm in stressful or emergency situations
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Prior law enforcement or security related experience and/or training
• Physically able to run / walk university grounds and stand for prolonged periods.
• Ability to work well with others in a team atmosphere; outstanding inter personal skills and cultural sensitivity
• Ability to read and understand University rules, regulations and specific general orders applying to Campus Safety
• Able to work weekends, nights to include overnight and holidays
• Unquestionable honesty and integrity
• Problem solving skills
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License

Preferred Skills and Characteristics:
• CPR, First-Aid, AED Training/Certification
• Prior law enforcement / security experience or training
• Firearms certification and/or training
