ACCT320 - Intermediate Accounting II

Description:
This course is the second of two in-depth financial accounting courses. Theory, concepts, and applications are stressed. Topics include time value of money, current and non-current liabilities, leases, deferred taxes, retirement benefits, stockholders' equity, earnings per share, accounting changes and errors, and the statement of cash flows.

Outcomes:

  • Operate within the theoretical structure of financial accounting
  • Conceptualize accounting problems and propose a solution through the use of authoritative language and accounting techniques
  • Apply the correct accounting standard to various financial instruments (bonds, leases, pensions) and as outlined in the SFAS (Statement of Financial Accounting Standards)
  • Analyze the results of a company's earnings per share (basic and diluted) calculation
  • Apply proper accounting treatment for accounting changes, errors, and corrections
  • Analyze the results of a statement of cash flows using the direct method
  • Present written and oral financial accounting information to various target audiences
  • Demonstrate knowledge that is in accordance with the educational requirements for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exam
