CJAD340 - Evidence Based Practice & Research

Description:
This innovative approach to research describes best practices and data-driven solutions in criminal justice research including quantitative, qualitative, and program evaluation research. Students will be good consumers of research and will have the fundamental knowledge necessary to evaluate research studies, evaluate their value toward their field of interest, and evaluate their usefulness for making sound decisions in the field.

Outcomes:

  • Describe the criminal justice inquiry, best practices in criminal justice research, and the value of evidence based practice
  • Compare and contrast quantitative and qualitative research
  • Evaluate how criminal justice research is typically done
  • Describe program initiation and evaluation research and distinguish them from other types of research in the field
  • Evaluate typical data collection and data analysis techniques in criminal justice
