COMM150 - Interpersonal Communication

Description:
By using applied critical and creative thinking, students in this course will develop a set of communication skills that will enhance their personal and professional relationships and endeavors. This course will focus on skill development in key areas such as self, perception, listening, verbal messages, conversations, relationships, conflict management, persuasion, and presentation skills.

Outcomes:

  • Juxtapose both self and culture within an interpersonal communication context
  • Demonstrate the role of perception and listening as they relate to interpersonal communication skills
  • Integrate both verbal and non-verbal messages within a communicative context
  • Identify and demonstrate interpersonal relationship skills within professional and personal settings
  • Apply presentation skills within a professional context
  • Integrate persuasion skills as they relate to effective interpersonal and public communication
  • Identify issues in communication that occur and develop strategies for resolution
