FINA403 - Advanced Financial Management

Description:
An introduction to advanced concepts and methods of financial management. Topics include risk and return, asset evaluation, capital budgeting, capital structure, business financial planning and working capital management.

Outcomes:

  • Determine a company's cost of debt, cost of common equity, and weighted average (overall) cost of capital
  • Determine the value of a firm using discounted cash flow and relative valuation approaches
  • Evaluate a company's current financial condition and prospective financial performance
  • Estimate a firm's growth rate and financing needs
  • Understand how firms manage working capital
  • Evaluate the benefits and costs of alternative corporate financing strategies
  • Weigh the factors involved in a company's decision to pay dividends or repurchase shares
  • Assess the costs and benefits of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to acquiring and target firms
