AMGT 450 - Organizational Supervision (4 Credit Hours)

This course is designed to provide the framework and foundation of what it takes to be a first line manager or supervisor. Students will be introduced to the many skills required of a supervisor such as planning and controlling activities to accomplish organizational goals. Areas such as communication, ethical decision-making, conflict management, interpersonal relations and employee development will be explored.

AMGT 499 - Independent Study: Applied Management (1 Credit Hours)

Independent studies courses allow students in good academic standing to pursue learning in areas not covered by the regular curriculum or to extend study in areas presently taught. Study is under faculty supervision and graded on either a Pass/No Credit or a letter grade basis. (See the "Independent Studies" section of the Academic Bulletin for more details.)

ANTH 215 - Cultural Anthropology (4 Credit Hours)

This course exposes students to the principles, concepts, research methods, and applications of cultural anthropology. Students will be introduced to the wide range of variation in social and institutional arrangements found historically and cross-culturally. From language to gender roles, from bases of social stratification to causes and consequences of conformity, from the simpler life in foraging societies to the seeming-chaos in modern post-industrial societies: students will examine the enormous variation in solutions to the requisites of social life.

BIO 101 - General Biology (3 Credit Hours)

This course introduces fundamental principles of biology for non-science majors, with an emphasis on scientific literacy and the role of biology in everyday life. Topics include cellular structure and function, energy and metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, and basic genetics. Students examine how biological concepts inform personal, societal, and global issues, including human health, environmental sustainability, and emerging technologies. Aligned with General Education learning outcomes, the course emphasizes the development of scientific reasoning, evaluation of evidence, and the ability to interpret and communicate biological information. Students engage with scientific questions, analyze data, and apply biological knowledge to make informed decisions in real-world contexts. The laboratory component reinforces these outcomes through hands-on investigations, observation, and experimentation. Students practice data collection and analysis, develop skills in interpreting scientific results, and connect laboratory experiences to broader biological concepts and societal applications.

Emphasis is placed on scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and the application of biological concepts to real-world contexts. Introductory Biology I, together with Introductory Biology II, serves as a foundational sequence for science majors and pre-professional students. The laboratory component complements lecture topics through hands-on investigations, experimental design, and data analysis. Students develop essential skills in microscopy, molecular and cellular techniques, and the scientific method while reinforcing core biological concepts.
