Note-taking for Online Classes

Are you stressed by the pressures of taking notes while you attend online classes? Sometimes it can be hard to focus on a professor’s slides and take down everything they’re saying when you’re toggling between a Zoom screen and a Word document.

If you’re looking for a hands-free approach, start a new document in Google Docs, and click on “Tools” and then “Voice Typing.” The program will automatically transcribe your professor’s words. (Just make sure you’re not wearing headphones.)

Note: Please communicate with your instructor verifying that you will be utilizing a recording device. Please be sensitive to others by stopping the recording device when personal student information is being share by class members.

You can also go old-school and write everything down by hand in a notebook. This old-fashioned approach will mean your computer only needs to broadcast the Zoom call.
