About This Professional Certificate
Go for the gold standard in medical coding with your choice of the Certified Professional Coder certification with the CPC credential or the Certified Coding Specialist-Physician-based (CCS-P).
Two hands-on courses, Intro to Human Anatomy and Medical Terminology, and Medical Coding, over 22 months will impart coding skills and principles of medical coding related to the three main codebooks: CPT, ICD-10-CM Volumes 1 & 2, and HCPCS Level II. The Medical Coding textbook contains access to coding software that allows for coding practice even after the completion of the course.
You'll have the tools needed to successfully pass the CPC examination or the CCS-P examination as a result of MedCerts' partnership with the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Pass the CPC examination and you'll earn the CPC-A credential. You'll earn full CPC designation after one year of practical coding experience as a CPC-A (apprentice).
There are currently 25,501 professional coder jobs available in the U.S. and the career offers a median salary of $38,018.1
