Coaching

Instructional Coaching

Instructional Coaching is a vital element in student-centered instruction and helps instructors to better serve students, continually evolve and transform their instructional practices, and set meaningful goals. Coaches at Franklin University engage in a specific coaching subset called dialogical coaching, especially suited to the University's mission and values.  The Center for Teaching Excellence offers three types of Instructional Coaching:

  • Course-Specific Coaching pairs a new adjunct instructor with an Instructional Coach for the duration of the adjunct's first course.  This coaching is only available for new hires, and is initiated upon submission of a Recommendation to Hire form by Lead Faculty.  On the form, Lead Faculty may also specify a specific Instructional Coach for their new hire.
  • Tier 1 Coaching Consultations may be requested by any instructor at any time. These sessions center on one instructional focus area and are 1-2 hours in length.
  • Tier 2 Coaching Consultations may be requested by any instructor at any time.  These sessions center on the coaching recipient's choice of focus areas over four hours of coaching.

Request a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Coaching Consultation here.
