Remembering DR. RAY FORBES
A MENTOR, SCHOLAR AND LEADER WHO SHAPED FRANKLIN UNIVERSITY 
AND GENERATIONS OF LEARNERS
Dr. Forbes was a leader who guided students with integrity and compassion.
Dr. Ray Forbes served Franklin University with 
extraordinary dedication for more than three 
decades, helping to launch the MBA program 
and later chairing and mentoring across multiple 
graduate disciplines. A licensed psychologist, 
master executive coach and retired U.S. naval 
officer, he brought a distinctive blend 
of discipline, compassion and intellectual 
curiosity to everything he did.
His leadership strengthened the MBA program, 
advanced mentoring initiatives, and elevated 
the practice of executive coaching at Franklin.
Dr. Forbes was a four-time president of the 
Faculty Senate and a founding board member 
of the Graduate School Alliance for Executive 
Coaching. Colleagues and alumni remember 
him for his unwavering belief in people — 
their potential and growth — and the power 
of education to change lives.
His lasting impact is felt across the University: in the 
programs he built, the courses he shaped, and most 
importantly, in the countless students, alumni, faculty 
and staff he mentored. The Franklin community 
honors his legacy with gratitude and pride.
