Columbus Rotary and Franklin University Partner to Offer Rotary Enterprise Academy

Columbus Rotary and Franklin University have partnered to offer this year’s Rotary Enterprise Academy. Thirty-five Columbus Public high school students, representing the largest class since the academy was introduced in 2002, began classes Jan. 22. Hosted at Franklin, students attend nine weeks of two and a half hour classes to learn about the free enterprise system, as well as earn credit toward a degree at Franklin.

This year’s sessions are being led by Franklin University professor Perry Maughmer and will include visits by central Ohio business professionals who will share their insight into business. Students will add to their classroom learning with field experiences in weeks six and seven, hosted in teams by area businesses and Columbus Rotarians. During these company visits, the students will study company mission statements, organizational structures, marketing practices and other concepts discussed in the classroom sessions.
