EXS252 - Exercise Physiology

Description:
This is an online course where we will cover topics including structure of muscle, bioenergetics, causes of fatigue, hormones associated with exercise, and more. This course will consist of readings each module, as well as review of PowerPoint slides. Students will be evaluated via discussion boards, quizzes, as well as laboratory aspects that students will complete on their own and/or with a partner.

Outcomes:

  • Describe how the cardio-respiratory and nervous systems in the human body interact to produce body movement
  • Apply the scientific process for identifying how the body responds to the increased physiological demands or physical activity
  • Apply basic principles of human anatomy and physiology for analyzing how the body responds to exercise
  • Apply basic principles of human anatomy and physiology for analyzing how the body adapts to repeated exercise
  • Define the process of growth and development and explain how it affects the performance capabilities of athletes
  • Describe how nutrition can be used to enhance performance
