Profile

"It would be nice if all of the data which sociologists require could be enumerated because then we could run them through IBM machines and draw charts as the economists do. However, not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted" (William Bruce Cameron, 1963). I love counting and making sense of data but hidden in there is the satisfaction of writing code that successfully counts and makes an illustration from big sometimes messy data. However, I realize that not everything can be counted; but other elements are so sublime that we have to perceive them to narrative them. At the CLDC, I mostly do data wrangling and analysis but I vicariously benefit from the sublimity of student career development by engaging and listening to colleagues that coach. R blows my mind away and SAS is growing on me.
