Profile

Dr. Leslie Mathew has over 35 years experience in the healthcare industry, having worked internationally over the years. After completing his MD in 1979, he specialized in the medical diagnostics area and has pioneered and chaired Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in India and the Middle East, always involved with teaching and patient services in the different positions he has held at academic medical centers over the past 3 decades. Besides earning a Master's in Biotechnology Enterprise from Johns Hopkins University, he also had the privilege of completing the Executive MBA program from The Fisher College of Business while working as Administrative Director of Operations at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Mathew has taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels in Healthcare and Business, in both non-profit and for-profit institutions. Most recently, he worked as a Dean of Education for an educational group that had 52 schools around the United States. He serves on different national and professional committees with organizations like the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA). He chaired the Local Program Council for ACHE at Columbus during 2010-2011, and currently serves on the Board as the past chair.Dr. Mathew has had twenty five years of senior leadership and management experience in higher education with proven results in building businesses, turning around operational challenges, and transitioning start-ups into world entities in the profit and non-profit sectors. He is known for creating and articulating strategic plans and empowering teams to embrace the vision, able to attract talented people, believing a creative workforce is the key to innovation. A driven self-starter, he manages with integrity and respect while building loyalty that delivers results, and has experience with culturally diverse groups. He is community-centered, having a vision that supports building organizations with an emphasis on institutional effectiveness. Dr. Mathew is focused on ensuring mission success, customer satisfaction, realizing cost savings, and delivering excellent service. Currently, Dr. Mathew is the Chair for the Master of Healthcare Administration Program at Franklin University, as well as the MBA-Healthcare Program at Urbana University. He enjoys serving on the Faculty Development Committee from 2010, currently as the Chair since 2017.
