Profile

As a higher education leader, faculty member, and researcher, Blake J. Renner, Ed.D., is focused on eliminating barriers and creating equitable learning environments to enable students to realize their academic potential. As the Dean of Students at Franklin University, he has worked to impact student persistence through leading student retention initiatives and expanding student support services within the University. In addition to his administrative role at Franklin University, he has remained committed to teaching. During his tenure at Franklin, he has taught multiple undergraduate and doctoral courses and serves as a Doctoral Faculty Advisor and Dissertation Committee Chair/Member.

Dr. Renner remains active in research projects and grant writing. His research interests include student success, develomental education, and program effectiveness. Dr. Renner serves on the Universitys IRB Review Committee and is the co-chair of the Student Success Initiative and Franklin Intervention & Awareness Teams.

In addition, he currently serves as past president and board member for the non-profit organization, Columbus Inspires, which focuses on supporting the development of leaders while strengthening the community through educational experiences. Also, he has served as a mentor to high school seniors in the Columbus City Schools.
