Profile

Dr. Solomon Tention has several years of experience in educational leadership and mid management experience in secondary and higher education. He possesses strong attention to detail, highly organized and capable of incorporating innovative ideas into current systems to increase effectiveness. Dr. Tention has gained substantial experience developing student centered effective strategies with the ultimate success of students as his highest priority. He has implemented marketing, recruitment, diversity and inclusion, retention, graduation, placement strategies and best practices ensuring student success, enrollment growth, and graduate outcomes. As a student success scholar, and student affairs administrator, Dr. Tention has authored several articles, book chapters, and publications, while has also conducted several presentations at various universities, and national conferences. Dr. Tention also serves on the Review Board for the Journal of Underrepresented and Minority Progress. Dr. Tention maintains a research agenda that focuses on Student Affairs, Cultural Competency, Diversity & Inclusion, Social Capital, Educational Psychology, Internationalization, Social Justice, Community Colleges, and Student Success. He has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, a Masters of Education in Teaching & Learning w/ Specialization in General Education Instruction and Leadership and a Doctorate of Education with a specialization in Higher Education Leadership.
