Student Desktop Technician

The Student Desktop Technician supports the Department by assisting staff, and faculty by phone, email, and in person with their technology questions and problems, hardware and software support, and installation and configuration of equipment. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with physical installation and configuration of equipment, conference room and classroom technology maintenance, hardware preparation and upkeep of computers, monitors, printers, projectors, and more.

Hours are flexible and will vary depending on the candidate’s availability and the workload of the department. The ideal candidate will be able to work around 20 hours a week, with a schedule ranging from Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8-4.

Candidate must: Be a current Franklin student; have excellent customer service skills; be organized with strong attention to detail; able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment; have a positive attitude and be willing to embrace change; be able to work independently, as well as within a team; be process oriented with strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills; excellent interpersonal and listening skills;  excellent oral and written communication skills; able to work with a diverse population and exhibit a high degree of confidentiality; be proficient with MS Office products; and able to lift up to 60 pounds (desktops, monitors, printers, scanners, ect.). Previous technology support experience is preferred.  Also helpful is prior experience with supporting browsers, anti-virus, basic wireless troubleshooting, Windows operating systems and PC hardware.
