Columbus, OH (May 26, 2022)

Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults in central Ohio, is proud to announce its designation as a Collegiate Purple Star institution. In its inaugural year and as one of the first campuses in the nation to be named to this distinguished honor, the designation recognizes public and independent colleges and universities that are supportive and inclusive of military-connected students.

“The resources available through Franklin University’s Office of Military and Veteran Affairs connect veterans and service members with everything from educational support to community activities,” Chancellor Randy Gardner said. “Franklin’s efforts exemplify a Collegiate Purple Star campus.”
Criteria for being chosen as a Purple Star college or university include having a dedicated military/veteran point of contact and office on campus, establishing priority registration for veterans and service members, surveying student veterans and service members – along with spouses and dependents – about needs and challenges, and allowing for the establishment of student-led groups and organizations for veterans and service members.

“Franklin University is humbled to receive the Collegiate Purple Star designation as an endorsement of the assistance and resources we provide to help our honorable military students reach their educational goals,” shared Dr. David Decker, President, Franklin University. “Our military service members make sacrifices worthy of our appreciation and steadfast support.”

Today’s announcement is the most recent affirmation of the University’s commitment to serving those who serve our country. In its 13th year of recognition as a Military Friendly® School, Franklin University has been named a Gold-level Military Friendly® School and a Top Performer in Military Advanced Education's Guide to Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities.
