Furthering its mission to provide accessible and relevant education to the broadest community of learners, Franklin University announces its new partnership with ed2go, part of Cengage Group, an industry leader in affordable online learning. Through this partnership, learners will have the opportunity to demonstrate specialized knowledge to advance their careers and meet current and emerging workforce demands.

Through FranklinWORKS, students now have access to six of ed2go’s industry-based courses, assisting with career preparation and development in the following areas:

•    Business
•    Construction Trades
•    Health Fitness
•    Hospitality
•    Information Technology
•    Teacher Professional Development

As career skills evolve in the next few years, the World Economic Forum’s latest analysis predicts six in 10 workers will require additional training before 2027. With a high emphasis on development and national growth in alternative programs such as microcredentials and certificates, the latest short-paced selection of online non-academic credit courses with ed2go provides the flexibility and agility needed for individuals to upskill efficiently while advancing in their careers.

“Through this partnership with Franklin University, we’re excited to offer learners the opportunity to access quality, flexible online education to improve their career prospects and their lives,” said Bob Batten, General Manager, ed2go.
Designed by in-field professionals, the following career training programs offer personalized attention, dedicated to one’s support, progression, and, ultimately, certification of completion, showcasing one’s industry-based knowledge.

“We created the FranklinWorks Marketplace in response to the need for affordable, short, and impactful experiences for learners,” shared Dr. Patrick Bennett, vice president, Academic Quality & Planning and dean, School of Education. “At the same time, we recognize the need for learners to turn these learning experiences into college credit.” Dr. Jonathan McCombs, dean, College of Health & Public Administration continues by sharing, “In many cases, short courses and certificates earned through the FranklinWorks Marketplace can be turned into college credit through our unique Proactive Learning Assessment model. Ultimately, this is about lowering the cost of education and shortening the path to attaining credentials and degrees.”

Ed2go programs add to the growing Franklin University catalog of offerings available through the University's FranklinWORKS Marketplace. The ever-expanding catalog of learning options of in-demand subject areas provides a one-stop-shop for Franklin University courses and certificates, as well as access to programs from industry-leading education providers: franklin.edu/franklinworks-marketplace.
